Should We Be Afraid of Artificial Intelligence?

One of our clients once asked us whether artificial intelligence might make a mistake in processing business processes and arbitrarily change the defined procedure. This question reminded us of the many uncertainties surrounding artificial intelligence and neural networks. In this post, we aim to clarify these uncertainties.

First, let’s explain how artificial intelligence works. The principle is simple: you have input data and the correct result for that data. When you properly present this data to the neural network, it can learn how to correctly recognize and classify the information. This is, of course, a simplified explanation, but it essentially works that way.

However, artificial intelligence is not omnipotent; it needs our help. We must properly describe the data so it can effectively work with it.

 

So how does our artificial intelligence, Aiviro, work, and is it safe?

Here’s a practical example:

Robot, you will receive an invoice via email. Extract the data from it and enter it into the ERP system. Archive the resulting invoice on the network drive. If successful, move the email to the Robot folder. If not, move the email to the Manual folder and notify the team.

Should the client fear that artificial intelligence will cause chaos in the system? Not at all. Our neural network only recognizes individual elements on the invoice, and then a classic program works with those elements. This program has clearly defined procedures and checks the values that artificial intelligence reads. Elements such as the date, company identification number, or amount are easily recognizable. The following steps are programmatically defined, and artificial intelligence again plays a role in saving data in the ERP system.
